Knowing how to buy lcd monitors, will make your television viewing
much more pleasant and enjoyable. Time should be taken to ensure that
the different features of the monitor are well matched for the
television experience you are looking for.
There are many reasons why you may want to purchase an LCD
monitor. The LCD screens just look so much more attractive than the
older CRT screens, and with them you will experience much less eye
fatigue, they do not take up much space and are lighter in
weight. Other advantages include the fact that they are easily moved,
are slimmer in body, and consume much less power.
These are the immediate characteristics that appeal to most people
looking to purchase an LCD monitor. But how to buy lcd monitors, is a
question most people will ask as they set out to look at the
selections on the market. An important thing to know about LCD
monitors, is that their field of vision is somewhat limited, and you
will generally get a better view of the picture on the screen if you
are directly in front the screen. As the quality of the monitor
improves, there is less of a restriction regarding its field of
vision, so you will not need to position yourself directly in front
the screen.
The screen resolution of the LCD monitor must match the screen size
to get optimal sharpness. The concept of native resolution refers to
the optimal resolution for the screen size. For a 15" screen, the
native resolution is 800pixels x 600 pixels or 1024 pixels x 768
pixels. For the 17" screen the figures are 1024x768; and for 19"
screen it is 1280x1024. If resolutions other than these are selection
for the different screen sizes, the picture on the screen will appear
blurry and washed out.
An important thing to look for is dead pixels on the screen. You
should ask your salesperson to display for you the full white image,
then the full black image - in this way you will be able to view any
dead pixels. Knowing that the warranty will cover dead pixels and
replace the monitor if any are found while the monitor is still under
warranty, will allow you to rest easier. Double check the monitor to
ensure that you will actually be taking home the same monitor you
selected in the store.
